Obama's delivering his speeches a lot more confidently. He's become more bold most likely due to the fact that he is in no danger of losing an election. His fine-tuned rhetoric is getting him so many standing ovations I feel bad for the ancient Supreme Court justices who have to hear their hips creak every time they get up.

He's doing a good job saying how we're going and have helped the economy grow. I like how more and more jobs are going to eventually come back to america. Then he switches to energy which ties back to new jobs being created.and he wants to use these new energy funds to help the economy and help people with gas prices. Though this probably won't be seen because corn oil and other gas substitutes have been proven to not work, atleast he has good ideas.

Issues like energy and education and economics are all related to the financials of middle and poor classes. Gun control and immigration really aren't going to make the country move forward in the global economy. We need to improve financially and also educationally, because honestly being 14% in English is terrible.

Obama is repeating the Democratic party platform with a bit of fluff and glitter for the Republicans to feel like they're 'all in this together'. This is wholly uninteresting because we've heard it all before. I support him fervidly but I'm wary about it's follow up. He makes complete sense: putting away partisanship in favour of passing legislature to improve housing, allow for fairer medicare, and bring jobs back from overseas. Glad to see a president address education the right way, by realising you CAN'T JUST SAY DO BETTER. He recognises that success in schools require not only a lot of funding for the proper materials and resources, but also a shift in our culture entirely.

Obama's policy proposals are more clean gas production, he wants to raise the minimum wage to 9.25 an hour, and to tax the rich more so that it will be more easier for the middle class to survive. He wants to enact the Paycheck equality act to make sure it is easier for families to survive in this economy.

i agree with jasmine, the rich should be taxed more since they have loads of money sitting in their back accounts where it has no use instead we could use that money to pay off debts, educations, jobs, etc. and it makes no sense to take money from the poor when they don't have enough to support them selves so its better if we tax the super rich.

Making the immigration process easier would also help.

All the policies that he's proposing ties into the fact that he wants to get America to be on top again, especially since he keeps mentioning China. He mentioned creating jobs in America, from manufacturing jobs to high tech ones. When he mentioned the issue of energy, he urged more domestic growth in that field and less of a reliance on foreign countries. Also something that the Chinese government has spent over 50 billion dollars trying to do. And even when the issue of education came up, statistics show that the average high schooler is remarkably average in comparison to the rest of the world resulting in a remarkably average middle class population which will entail in an average society doing average things. By encouraging the states to emphasize their time, resorces, and money on education, Obama is trying to get America back on top in all fields; especially in the science, math, and engineering ones.

Obama made short speeches on each topic or policies, meaning they were all evenly talked about. Obama also had a six (6) pillars speech: economy, environment, foreign affairs, employment/unemployment, immigration and gun control. I think style didn't outweigh substance because the topics he focused on needed to be said and explained as well as put emphasis on the importance of them.

The plan regarding the raise of federal minimum wage to $9 sounds great since people would like more money. But, I don't see how every state would agree with that since they all have their own power to make state laws. The plan about making it hard to get guns especially to ex criminals. I liked that because it makes sense to stop buying guns from being easily brought, and why give guns to ex criminals? Lastly, the plan about college reducing prices is a good idea because kids shouldn't be unable to attend school based on prices and paying back so many loans.

I like his policy where he proposes not to just the Congress cut the 1 trillion but try to tax things like wealthier people instead of education and job training which would ruin country growth as a whole. The idea to set the party interests to side. Help new people to be more skilled workers so more jobs are made and better workforce in america. Also raising minimum wage to $9 dollars is a brilliant idea and help and encourage more company's like apple to be in America and the revolutionary 3D printing. Invest into jobs that will make back a lot more money such as the example he used that every dollar invested 140 was given back. Do anything that can get back more businesses and jobs such as fix the roads and bridges and anything that would attract more company's to create more jobs in America rather then overseas.

I agree with Obama's proposal of his $4.35 billion Race to the Top education competition which prodded dozens of states to link teacher evaluations to student test scores and increase the number of charter schools and he said he wants to create a new challenge to redesign American high schools. Obama wants school districts to work with colleges and employers to recreate high schools that prepare graduates for a "high-tech economy". His proposal of the " Partnership to Rebuild America" is to use public money to attract private capital to upgrade " modern ports to move our goods, modern pipelines to withstand a storm and the modern schools worthy of our children is something that many states think about infrastructure through public private partnerships. I doubt that trying to get congress on board will be easy but with much effort I think its possible. The third proposal of climate control and the environmental issue that obama said on an energy trust fund at using federal revenues from booming oil and gas production to pay for research into ways to wean off oil. Helps our economic growth and the planet itself! He reminded the people that the country now produces more domestic energy than we have in 15 years ! He addressed a lot of his topics with confidence, I love the whole boosting the minimum wage from 7.25 to 9 dollars by 2015 ! And the more important of his proving his commitment to some legislative action on gun violence/gun control by mentioning background checks, limits on ammunition magazines and a ban on semi-automatic weapons !

I like Obama's ideas, but I feel like I have heard them all before. I like that he plans to increase taxes on the wealthiest 1% of America. I like that he is going to work with colleges and universities to keep costs low (although it isn't the sort of attention and promise I wanted to see this issue addressed with. I wanted to see more, but whatever). And I like that he wants to financially reward companies that create jobs in America, rather than shipping jobs out to China or India for cheaper workers.

I watched CNN for the SOTU and I just want to say, this is an extremely biased program. Before I switched to this channel, I watched Fox for a bit and only listened to the people going on and on about how Obama is only going to tell a fairy tale and won't get anything done on his bucket list. They believe that nothing will change from the last four years. Obama started out praising the soldiers that are returning from war, and then went straight to unemployment, then touched on immigration and nuclear weapons, and went back to unemployment for most of the speech. He stated that he doesn't want to add to the deficit anymore, even though he's the one that added three trillion dollars to it. As Republican Senator Macro Rubio stated, Obama is blaming the government for not taxing the people more because he believed that if it did, the economy would be better. He accused the public of wanting dirty water and pollution and wanting the elderly to care for themselves without medicare. Obama even criticized the cuts that he made himself. Senator Marco Rubio stated that a bigger government will definitely cause more unemployment.
